It is not working and it's always red. When I press it goes mute on the taskbar, but there is no sound on my computer and I cannot listen to music.

Try to install the drivers for the sound card and then install the HP Quick Launch Buttons. Alternatively, check the utility used to configure the quick launch buttons. Once you complete this operation, there is no way the buttons shouldn't work.
To be sure that the driver is installed correctly, I recommend you to reinstall it. Go to Start, type Device Manager and open the utility. Right-click Fingeprint Sensor and select Update Driver Software. Select Browse my computer for driver software, check the Include subfolders box and open the driver using the Browse option. Click Next and then OK. After that, go to Start, type Biometric Devices and open the tool. Select Change biometric settings, check the Biometrics on and Allows user to log on to Windows using their fingerprints boxes and click Save Changes. Go again to Biometric Devices, select Use your fingerprint with Windows, press twice Yes and follow the instructions.
